Description:
The Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) CEC Course (5G-CPE-7R) is for Active and Reserve Component officers only and is a 36-month course, accredited both by U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) and ACPE, The Standard for Spiritual Care and Education Inc., 55 Ivan Allen Jr. Boulevard, Suite 835, Atlanta, GA 30308. CPE supports the Army Chief of Chaplains requirement for clinically certified specialists in spiritual care and spiritual care training. The CEC course educates and certifies selected chaplains, who meet the requirements and standards of ACPE to become a Certified Educator (CE). The course qualifies Chaplains to conduct CPE education for students in both the extended and resident programs, and will change their Area of Concentration to 56D. Upon completion of the course and certification as a CE, the Chaplain is qualified to conduct education of CPE students at any of the Component Sites of the Army CPE System, and to conduct extended CPE for the Chaplain Corps. CEs may eventually become National Faculty (NF) in order to train and educate future CECs. The course is conducted at the three different medical centers (Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, Brooke Army Medical Center, and Madigan Army Medical Center). All components (COMPOs), including Active, Reserve, and National Guard, may join the CEC process, with appropriate funding and authorizations.
