PREFACE

The US Army Training Support Center (ATSC) responded to requests from the US Army Infantry School and the 3d Infantry Division (Mechanized) for assistance with developing sustainment training for the Bradley Fighting Vehicle - Operation Desert Storm (BFV-ODS).

The BFV-ODS is an improved M2/3A2 vehicle that incorporates improvements identified during Operation Desert Storm. The improvements will be incorporated into the M2/3A3 Bradley. The fielding schedule is such that only a few units will have the BFV-ODS before the Army begins fielding the M2/3A3. There will not be a large number of BFV-ODS-qualified soldiers. Sustainment training, therefore, will be a challenge, though vital.

This print sustainment training support package (TSP) consists of nine taining modules:

Although the training modules may be presented in any order, the recommended order is as they are presented above.

This print sustainment TSP is ATSC's short-term response to the request for immediate assistance. The long-term response will be an interactive courseware (ICW) sustainment TSP. ATSC's objective is to field the ICW TSP by end-September 1997.

The ATSC expresses appreciation to the Bradley New Equipment Training (NET) Team, 1st Battalion, 29th Infantry Regiment, US Army Infantry School. The Bradley NET Team provided extensive support to ATSC in the preparation of this TSP.

The ATSC project officer for BFV-ODS sustainment training is Mr. Jack Becker, (DSN) 927-4681 or (COMM) (757)878-4681 (electronic-mail: beckerj@atsc.army.mil).
