3-3 Prepare a One-Man Fighting Position: Steps

To begin preparing a one-man fighting
position, use the following steps:

Obtain a position location and sector of fire from your leader.   Put in sector-of-fire stakes.   Partially clear a field of fire within your sector.   Dig a hasty hole for minimum protection, being careful not to destroy natural camouflage around your position.   Save grass clumps for use as camouflage later. At this stage of construction of the position, you should be able to fight effectively in the event of a surprise attack.
